Creative OR Hill-billie?

What's one thing 5 boys can do on a hot summer day?Apparently, create a slip-N-slide.

Ingredients Needed:
large tarp
baby soap (so your eyes don't burn, they said)
water hose
a few nails to hold the tarp in place

I think all these boys ended up with scratched bellies after this event!

How Summer Flies

I can't believe it's the middle of July. I haven't posted much this summer...mostly because I have been frustrated with my camera! We have been consumed with baseball, of coarse! I didn't get any pictures of the boys this season, except at the All-Star game. My camera has been really slow - most definitely, to slow to capture any good baseball pictures! Caden's team won 2nd place in their league and will play in the state tournament in Whitehouse. Rylan's team won 1st place in his age group and will get another chance at winning state here! It's been a fun season to watch the boys grow and enjoy sports. Hudson has even had his baseball debut! During Caden's last game of the season, his team only had 8 players. Hudson had told Ryan that afternoon, "Daddy, I'm going to be ready tonight if you need me." Well, it just happened to be a game that didn't affect any standings, so Hudson got asked to play right field. I never seen a boy more excited. He has been playing pretend games in our house for months. If you ask him he can tell you who is playing, what the score is, who hit homeruns and any other facts you would care to know about his imaginary games including when the next game will be! Hudson got two chances at the plate-swung at all pitches and struck out. When we asked him, he told us he knew he was swinging at balls and strikes..but, he really wanted to get a hit! A ball was hit to him in right field...he fielded it and threw it to second. People were yelling, 'Hudbud' while he was batting and he was the star of that moment!! When he wears the jersey he was wearing that day, he says, "I am wearing my first game shirt!" It was so fun. Of coarse, I didn't have my camera!! I did use my phone to capture a few shots.

Hudson's Swim Lessons

Hudson enjoyed swimming lesssons with his buddy Trey last week. After two lessons, we went swimming at a friends house. Hudson announced...'I have had two lessons. I don't need floaties anymore!' He did great but I'm not sure we are ready for that when I am not in the pool with him!

Rylan and Caden played football while Trey and Hudson swam.

Everyone Needs Goggles To Take Out The Trash

Hudson was getting ready for swim lessons when Ryan asked the boys to take out the trash. Hudson pulled his goggles over his face and off he went to do his work!

Wheee...May is gone

And I need to not get so behind on postings! Those 4 took me way to long! It's much easier to do one at a time! It's the first day of summer vacation. We have been home most of the day, recovering from our weekend. The boys have 8:00 games tonight. Luckily, this is the only night they both play at the same time. I haven't taken any photos of them playing baseball yet...need to do that too! Today, is also our 13th anniversary! It does go by fast- doesn't it? We are praying for a restful, peaceful summer full of time with family & friends! Hope your summer goes well too!

May Happenings....Part 4- A Little Baseball

We have been enjoying high school baseball with Parker as he finishes up his high school playing career and heads off to play football in Arkansas.

The boys and Shelby Miller -

Parker playing with the boys after the game!

Saturday we headed for Arlington for a Casting Crowns concert and a Rangers game. The concert was on the lawn at the Ballpark. We were late getting there (another story...for another post!!) So we didn't get a very good spot to see the band; but, it was great anyway! And just for the record this is the 4th wedding anniversary I have spent at a ballpark!

After the concert, the boys wanted to play in the kids area. Rylan tries pitching from the distance of MLB players.

Caden plays in the field as he waits for his turn to hit in the wiffle ball park.

Fun hitting wiffle balls

Just because....it's a goofy picture!

See those white spots down there...those are the players from our view one row from the top! Our seats might have been high up but the breeze was great!

May Happenings.... Part 3 - The Last Day of School

Here we are again! School's out and we are looking forward to the SUMMER! Caden did a great job in first grade with Mrs. Lowry. He read more books than I can count, the highest in his class. He made new friends and loved getting to go to music and PE this year.

Rylan and Coach Mackey - a very special teacher in Rylan's life!

Can you believe these three boys were in the same 3rd class this year...and the teacher survived!

Mrs. Mayo and Rylan....
She loves baseball as much as Rylan I think.
So, they got along great...
sneaking peaks of scores off the internet during class time!!!

Rylan had a good year in 3rd grade. He got his first chance at the TAKS test and did very well - a 95 on the Reading & a 100 on the Math! Way to go Rylan! He said good-bye to Woodland on this day. He will be at Coggin 4th grade campus next school year.

Nothing says school is out like this picture of Hudson!
Swimming at the Jacobs on the day school lets out has become our tradition! Let the fun begin!

May Happenings.... Part 2 -Field Day and Timothy's Day at Church

Rylan's last Field Day at Woodland! I think the best part of Field Day for him this year, was Coach Mackey letting him help her for two days before the event! Oh, he loved that!

Rylan runs in the relay.

Hudson lays on the gym floor - 'how much longer?'

Hudsons tries out the jump sacks after one of the classes finish.

GO Caden, Go!

Mimi joined the boys for the field day events!

Our weekend concluded with the boys partcipaiting in Timothy Sunday at church. Rylan and Caden led a song and gave a speech. Way to go, boys!
